2001-2002 Worldwide Professional Investment Community Study

The Erdos & Morgan Worldwide Professional Investment Community study has been conducted biennially since 1987. The eighth in the series was conducted in the spring and summer of 2001, and released in the fall of that same year.

The survey targets a universe of approximately 32,000 senior managers on the “buy side” of investment firms that manage $100,000,000 or more in investments. The survey sample for the project is selected from the Thomson Financial/Carson database.

The types of companies, and titles/functions within each of the types of companies are as follow:

In addition to Title/Function and Type of Company, the survey results cover the following areas:

  • Opinions about various worldwide financial issues
  • Geographic markets/areas followed for investments
  • Anticipated financial performance (ROI) for each area followed
  • Proportion of funds invested overseas and restrictions on such investments
  • Opinions about best performing and worst performing economic sectors
  • Types and value of funds managed/influenced
  • Readership of a roster of daily newspapers and magazines
  • Utility of the publications that are read.

The database for the study is stored online with IMS, New Age and Telmar, enabling sponsors to run cross-tabulations of the marketing information and reach/frequency media planning schedules for the measured print publications.
